Take advantage of this break to spend time on yourself; like shopping, sewing, or accomplishing something that is not easy to do with your child around. Go over the basics of sewing and the tools of the trade, other than the sewing machine. Selecting and reading a pattern, taking measurements, choosing fabrics, laying our patterns, reading pattern markings, cutting, basic construction and finishing techniques will also be demonstrated.

Learn how to put a basic garment together. Choose a pattern that fits you properly and learn the various sewing techniques for garment construction. From shopping for the right supplies to finished project, you will complete a simple garment by the last session.
Dear Beginners:
A successful start begins with your own comprehension of sewing machine usage. Please come knowing how to use your own or one of our classroom machines. “Machine Basics for Novices” is a great place to receive this start-up information on our “loaner” classroom machines. In addition, all machines purchased at our store include thorough instruction and guide classes. All beginners must take this class or have teacher approval prior to taking any beginning sewing or kids class at EQB. Machines are provided for students to use in class.
